Former Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye calls on Gov’t to dissolve GFA

Former Minister for Youth and Sports, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye who is also Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency, has called for a total revamp of the Ghana Football Association after several top officials of the governing body were implicated in Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ latest expose on Ghana Football dubbed “Number 12.”

GFA boss Nyantakyi was seen in the video outlining to agents of Anas’ TigerEyePI who posed as investors the key government officials to bribe and also the steps to take to get a strangle hold on key projects in the country, as well as suggesting a dummy financial agency that would broker a sponsorship deal for the Ghana Premier League.

The exposé also captured 77 Ghanaian referees and 14 top GFA officials for engaging in various acts of corruption.

“We need a holistic change in Ghana football, The government needs to dissolve the GFA” Nii Lante said in an interview with an Accra-based radio station.

“If we don’t dissolve the FA and the Regional bodies we won’t solve anything”

“With the sort of structure we have, prior to the Anas video, if we conducted elections 10 times, Nyantakyi would’ve won 10 times” he continued…

“There must be a total cleansing of the Ghana Football Association, I won’t accept only Nyantakyi’s removal”

“We need to dissolve the GFA and damn the consequences; Nigeria did it and are reaping the rewards” he concluded
